Jeans from Xintang: Weight, Wash, and Shrinkage
Fiona3 min read
Xintang in Guangzhou is the denim garment town. The fabric can come from elsewhere. Here is what I specify so the wash you approved is the wash in the carton.
Apparel is a large export lane, and jeans are the piece buyers reorder if the fit holds. The garments are cut and washed in Xintang (新塘), on the edge of Guangzhou. The cloth itself may come from a fabric town such as Keqiao. I do not treat the mill and the wash house as the same supplier.
The spec is the wash, not the mood board
- Denim weight, in ounces, and the fiber. Stretch content changes the fit after an hour of wear.
- The wash recipe tied to the approved sample. A “lighter blue” note is how two shipments diverge.
- Shrinkage after the wash cycle your customer will use, measured, not estimated.
- Waist, rise, and inseam on the size spec, plus hardware that does not stain the cloth.
Needle fragments are an apparel problem, not a denim curiosity. On a first order I want the factory’s needle control looked at, the same way I do on a sock order in Zhuji. A logo patch, a leather patch, and your hangtag are light customization. A new fit block is a sample run.
Xintang is on the industrial hub guide. Send the fit you want copied and the wash photo only as a reference. The standard is a physical pair, signed, before the line starts.
Send the product and the quantity.
I will name the cluster, the check that matters on this item, and the port the goods should leave from.
