Bedding and Towels from Nantong
Fiona3 min read
Cotton sheets, duvet covers, and towels are a Nantong order. Thread count is a weak spec. GSM, size in centimetres, and color fastness are the ones I write down.
Made-up textiles, the sheets and towels rather than the garments, are their own export lane. Nantong (南通) is where I place cotton bedding, duvet covers, and towels. A down-filled quilt is not automatically the same order: the fill has a source of its own, often Xiaoshan, and I name that source instead of hiding it inside a “comforter” price.
Ignore the thread-count slogan
Thread count is easy to inflate and hard to sleep under. I specify the fabric, the grams per square metre, the weave, and the finished size in centimetres. A queen size is not one number worldwide. The purchase order uses the centimetres you will actually sell.
- Color fastness, including rubbing, on the darkest color.
- Shrinkage after the wash you expect the customer to use.
- Towel weight in GSM, and the band that does not twist off.
- Packing that keeps a white set white. One loose dark piece in a carton dyes the rest.
Embroidery, a printed package, and a size label are light customization. A new jacquard design can be a minimum of its own. Nantong is on the industrial hub guide. Tell me whether this is flat bedding, a towel, or a filled quilt, because those are not one factory.
